About The Artist

I'm Janet, a yarn and fibre enthusiast with a focus on weaving, knitting and spinning. I started off my yarn adventures with crochet, that being my mother's favourite fibre craft. She taught me how to crochet little bags, bookmarks and how to read a pattern. It wasn't until I was in my 20s that I learned how to knit, mostly on my own. I love being able to knit my own clothes and accessories. Once I moved to the USA, I discovered that I could spin my own yarn and weave my own towels. A whole new world of creativity opened up for me and I was hooked.

I am trained and qualified in digital multimedia, and earned my bachelor degree from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. Now I'm living in Ypsilanti, Michigan, while my husband works at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I've recently started oil, watercolour and mixed media painting. Traditional drawing and painting were activities I didn't think I could manage, but I'm now giving it my best shot and learning all I can to improve.

A little bunny called Rösti lives a pampered life with us. She was adopted in 2015, while we were in Pittsburgh. She is a mini lop of 2.1 kg with a broken tortoise shell colouring, who lives in our converted formal dining room -- it's the perfect place for waiting for food from the kitchen!

Over the course of my life, I've been interested in many subjects and crafts and have blogged about them. For the sake of keeping a part of history, this is the way to my archived blog.
